Surface
Surface by Rachel Main
We begin to emerge. Slowly. We step back into familiar places. Hesitant to touch. The months were heavy and time circled around us, slow and fast. And how do we create in these moments? How do we dance, play and connect? How do we stand apart when our bodies naturally come together? How do we navigate the surfaces and spaces that made us afraid?
Surface engaged with six dancers/choreographers to respond to the Covid-19 restrictions; specifically the anxieties, fears and anticipation as we transitioned in and out of lockdown. Ideas associated with touch, social distancing and surface areas were explored through movement and resulted in a collaboratively created dance video.
This project was made through the Working for Victoria LandMARKS artist in residency program at Brimbank City Council.
